In 2022, I was appointed by Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to serve on the Commercial Customs Operations Advisory Committee (COAC) to advise the Secretaries of Treasury and DHS and the Commissioner of US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on the commercial operations of CBP and related DHS and Treasury functions. I currently serve as co-chair of the COAC Next Generation Facilitation Subcommittee, the ACE 2.0, Forced Labor, Foreign Trade Zone and Bonded Warehouse Working Groups. I served for more than 20 years as a member of CBP’s Trade Support Network, including the trade leadership counsel. I formerly served as the Vice President of Global Customs and Trade at Flexport and Senior Director, Customs and International Trade, for Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, P.A. 

 

I am a licensed customs broker and Certified Customs Specialist and recognized as an authority in the multifaceted and technical world of international trade. I have extensive experience and frequently speak to groups of importers and customs brokers on current customs, international trade, trade remedy, duty saving, product safety and supply chain security issues. I advise and support both domestic and international companies involved in all areas of international trade, focusing on those companies with a proactive philosophy toward international trade compliance.

My expertise encompasses tariff classification, valuation, origin determination, and trade agreements, enabling clients to optimize their customs processes and minimize duties. I take pride in building strong relationships with clients, understanding their unique needs, and delivering strategic guidance that drives growth and operational efficiency. I have developed simple yet compliant procedures for tariff engineering and HTS classification, country of origin shifting and determination, qualification for free trade agreements, and special duty reduction programs.
